Everyone has a story.
Ours is told through art, service, and the people God places in our path.
We tell stories—sometimes with words, but mostly with artwork and treasures we find in everyday life. We DRAW people (and places) to DRAW people (crowds and interest) to DRAW some of them to Jesus. Our story is about drawing.
A Closer Look …
Our story is who we are, where we’ve been, and what we choose to do with the life we’ve been given. In many ways, our story looks like everyone else’s—shaped by family, faith, work, joy, and struggle. But in another way, it’s entirely our own. No one else walks our exact road. No one else carries our particular mix of gifts, scars, memories, and hope.
For us, Our Story is rooted in service—service to God and service to the people around us. We live that story right where we are, with the folks God puts in our path. No grand stage. No spotlight. Just everyday faith lived out in ordinary places.
And when we look back over more than seventy years of living, learning, and loving (this chapter written by Rom Webster—though he’s really talking about Opa), one thread runs through every season: art. More specifically, caricature.
Caricature Story …
Caricature has always been our language. It’s how we observe, how we listen, and how we tell the truth with a gentle smile. Long before digital tools and online galleries, Opa was drawing for magazines and cartoon syndicates, shaped by the comic strips of another era—simple lines, expressive faces, and stories that felt human. That spirit still guides everything we do today as a ministry—as an apostolate—and as a Christian business.
Nearly every project you’ll find here grows out of that same soil. Caricatures of people we know and love. Familiar places seen with fresh eyes. Visual storytelling that’s a little nostalgic, a little playful, and always rooted in affection. Along the way, those caricatures have expanded into related work—Palmetto Silhouettes, Salt Watercolor paintings, postcards, puzzles, and folk-art treasures and an occasional book—but the heart remains the same.
Home Sweet Home …
Most of our work focuses on the people and places of the Palmetto State and the life of faith found within the Diocese of Charleston. Our hope is simple: that through art, stories, and a touch of humor, we might gently draw hearts a little closer to Jesus—without preaching, without pressure, just by pointing toward beauty, goodness, and truth.
Some of these stories live right here on the Reach One website. Others unfold on our sister roads: Palmetto Places and Catholic Roads. Together, they tell one larger story—many chapters, one journey.
We invite you to walk with us.
Follow along here. Wander with us there. And if you’re so inclined, look for us on social media too.
We Are …
We are E.B and Opa (renamed by our grandchildren, but born a long time ago as Beth and Frank). We’ve been married for over 50 years. We’ve had a career in the military and followed that with a career in business too. These days, we’ve settled in to that last, glorious chapter where we focus on the things that are truly important—faith, family, friends, prayer and love!
Mostly, we do this Reach One ministry by ourselves, but we do have lots of folks who help us out when they can. E.B does most of the thrifting (treasure hunting) and Opa does most of the artwork and writing. In all that we do, we’re looking for the stories that are all around us.
Stories get confused and sometimes forgotten—but nevertheless, they can live forever. We love to tell stories—sometimes even embellishing them for the sake of interest. We call that “almost-true stories.” But our favorite story needs no help from us. It is the story of Jesus!
Our Story …
That’s our story, and we’re sticking to it.
And we’re glad you’re part of it.
